Le Bug Show Finest
Promised you some post ago to publish some more Spa pictures, well here they are: Le Bug Show Finest...
Very nice Late Looker with all the right bits: Turbo muffler (no so shure about the color), nice stance, EMPI decklid, pop-outs, perfect tire combo and very nice wheels... Simple but effective...
This time another very fine Belgian Looker with EMPI C-stripe kit, EMPI decklid and much more... Lovely British slammed Split...
Something a little different but very well executed, this ride was detailled to the max...
Perfect Looker based around a early Cabriolet, works for me... Kai from German Aircult cruising his 2L type 4 powered Variant...

A very nice pair of type 3's in the form of an early Variant and a 62 Notch on Centerlines with perfect stance (spotted this ride in Hannover too earlier this year, ride might be sold to Britain) More pictures to come so stay tuned...

El Picaro Update
Since some time, I've been toying with the idea to ditch the original plan to fit 4-lug Sprintstars on my late Looker based on my Mexican build Bug. Sprinstars are a very nice wheel by any means but I thought that El Picaro would be happieren with something more exotic. So I started looking around and I let my eye drop on a set of Pedrini wheels lying around at Steve's VW Shop. Sadly, the set wasn't up for grabs. Last weekend, luck stroke upon me as at Le Bug Show at least 4 sets were for sale at the swapmeet. So, I took the necessary cash at loaded my Notch with a very good set of these nice wheels. The Pedrini Wheels were produced to be fitted on 914/4 Porches during 1970-1972. This evening, while listening to some nice tunes of Joy Denalane and the evening sun in my face, I started sanding one of my set to get an idea how the y would look with some detailling. It will be a lenghty task but it will be worth the effort once they are finished. When the ribs on the 4 are polished and shinning, I'll plan to paint the centersections black to give a nice contrast to the polished and shinning ribs. Can't wait to see these beauties finished...

Le Bug Show 2006
As usual, DVF was present at Le Bug Show at Spa and some of us left as early as Monday to enjoy a nice week in the 'H'Ardennnen'. The weather could have been better but we didn't let it spoil our trip as we rented a chalet with all the luxury needed. So no mud to sleep in as most of the campers did during the weekend (just ask Moddersmurf of the Belgian VW Club who felt right at home in the mud...) We even had the time to enjoy some nice DVF-line-ups. Just check them out and enjoy.
Even the local cops liked what we were doing at let us do our thing... And by Saturday we were able to do an almost complete line-up which wasn't left unnoticed at the show. I promise to post some pictures of the show later on so stay tuned...

Leaving 4 Spa
We're off to Spa this evening for Le Bugshow which takes place this weekend. If you see this nice babe hitchhiking along the way, give her a ride and drop her off in the DVF-chalet. We're expecting her...

Opening weekend at 'Steve's VW shop'
YeeHaaa..., this weekend Steven and Sofie opened their fantastic new showroom and shop. It's located next to our hometown Ghent so for us DVF it's the place to be. If you didn't make it this weekend you really should make a visit some other time!

Fine Ride
Somewhere down in our small country, another fine ride is being build by a guy nicknamed Turtle. It's a 59 dropped ride running on OG Empi Fives. As rumours says, it will be a full-on Old Speed ride... For more about Turtle's Little 59, check his blog here...

Shit Happens
Sometimes shit happens and so bad luck stroke Tom. His nice 66 Looker got out of control and ended up where it didn't belong. His ride does look pretty heavily damaged and will need a lot of work to get it back into perfect shape. I hope Tom has the courage to save this ride from ending at the scrapyard.

Cruising...
Jelle cruising home in his street-strip bug after a meet with his friends who punished him with a stop-n-go-penalty. Yes indeed, this bug puts down a 13.6 on the 1/4mile and gets driven on the street.

Das Drag Day #4
Das Drag Day #4 was a blast. Cal Look Fiesta all weekend long. We (Jelle and I) arrived on Friday evening and the parking lot was allready filled with Europe's best but the weather didn't look promising. Luckily is only rained 2 times for half an hour so we did witness some very fine track action.

DVF racing at Bitburg
Today Jelle (on your right) didn't break his last years record. I bet tomorrow he will run low 13's.

Bitburg 2006 'a little teaser'
I couldn't resist posting this pic while Guillermo is still in Bitburg. It's the muppet launching hard against ffred. Those who stayed at home because of the weather missed one of the highlights of this season. Stay tuned for more pics!!!

Meeting shots
Yesterday I promised to post some pictures from the events we've visited this weekend. So here they are...
Like I've allready said, the first meeting we've attended was the meeting in Dendermonde where Messie caught me posing next to this 80'ies baja.
If there was one old VW that really cauf-ght my attention, it shure was this very fine fully restored early Fastback. The detailling on this Fasty was spot-on. The meeting in Dendermonde was good with a lot of activities but somehow made me think of a flash back to the times when Slice N Ring was king. After the small visit at meeting in Dendermonde, we jumped back into our rides and travelled all the way thru the Flanders Countryside to the meeting in Lessine which was a bigger succes with more quality rides turning up. As the Hoodride thing is getting also very big here in Belgium, some of those were on display in Lessine.
This shot shows a collection of very fine Lookers. I really dig the Ice-bow White looker and the late grey late Looker based on a 1200 Bug.

Another Meeting Day
Yesterday, some DVF-members had another day of meetings planned. It was planned to visit the meeting in Dendermonde so we filled up our rides and headed for the meeting. Once at the spot, we set up a small dispay featuring Dr Jeckill's bug, Messie(aka The Preacher aka El Barone)'s Bug, Guillermo's Notch and Thys' bug.
Sadly, the meeting in Dendermonde wasn't big so we got back in our rides and started the cruise thru the Flanders to visit the meeting in Lessine. This meeting was a lot bigger and with some very fine rides on display. Tomorrow I'll be back with some more shots of both meets...

Messies New Powerplant
And after holidays, there's still the work. So I continued the assembly of the new powerplant for Messies 67 Looker. The first thought was to assemble a new engine for Messies single cab because he blew up the engine some time ago and used Ollies bus engine. But plans changed last week as it seems that the current engine in Messies ride seems to suffer from some fatigue after several years of abuse in my Mexican bug before I sold it to Messie who's abusing the little powerplant for almost 6 years now.
As the engine was planned for the bus, we kept it quite convintional with a stock cr but with the addition of an Engle 110 camshaft, a 3-angle head job by Steve and bolt-on rockershafts. Of course all the bearing were renewed and the camfollowers as well. The engine will breath thru the Dell Orto's and wasted the burned gasses thru a BAS-exhaust. The necessarily sparks will be provided by a Bosch 009 distributor with Compu-Fire and a Bosch Blue Coil .The lightened flywheel which is on the current powerplant will find his way on the new powerplant as well. And while all the tinware was off, I gave it all a new coat of satin black. I must admit that I'm curious about the output of the engine but we'll see that soon enough.

VW's of the world pt 2
While Herr Gunter spent his holiday in Montenegro, some DVF'er stayed home to visit some meetings and hang out at the beach and I, well I spend my holiday in La Douce France to enjoy the food, a lot of booze, the atlantic ocean and the 'Françaises'. So not a lot of VW's for the holidays but I did manage to stop one nice late bug which looked in a pretty good condition. Just check it out for yourself.

VW's of the World
DVF'er Herr Gunter went to Montenegro to spend his holiday and spotted some strange VW's. Check out this creature based on an old VW drive-train. Engine was (or still is) a more recent Golf powerplant.
